AIDS Orphans

Children are the victims that are most affected by AIDS and diseases like it. Imagine you live in Afirca, and your parents have AIDS. You have to watch your parents slowly dying, in emmense pain all the time. You want to help your mom and dad. You want loving parents that can provide for you and raise you. But for all you know, there is no help. Or hope, for that matter. All you can do is watch them suffer, while you sit alone and try to find enough food for your ailing parents and younger siblings. Anytime, your parents may die, and then you will be alone caring for your brothers and sisters. This is what it is like for so many children living in the poor and rural areas of Africa. These are the true victims of the terrible diseases AIDS and HIV.

What AIDS Is

AIDS is one of Africa's biggest problems. AIDS is a disease of the immune system in which a person becomes much more susceptible to illness. It is such a big problem in Africa because Africans do not have as much access to healthcare as the rest of the world. Also, it is spread very easily in poor or unsanitary communities, as a person developes AIDS/HIV through sexual contact or blood. AIDS in Africa is one of the continents greatest problems, and because of it's weak economy and government, Africa cannot solve this problem on it's own.
